Power Trends+: Bullish Data and Promising Stocks This month ends with kids (and adults) asking the age-old question: trick or treat?
When it comes to stocks, the answer is... both. And they can change costumes more than once.
We've already seen it. Through three quarters, the S&P 500 is having its best year since 1997, and September bucked the trend with a much-better-than-average 2% gain.
But we've already seen rising war-like tensions in the Middle East and a potentially disruptive strike by port workers that weighed on stocks the first day of the month. And this morning, we learned that private companies added more jobs than expected in September.
It's a lot to digest and often contradictory, and that can cause us to react emotionally – which is never a good thing.
So, in the new Power Trends+ video, my colleague Luke Downey walks us through some decidedly unemotional data that bodes well for the future. Turns out that big Septembers tend to produce big finishes to the year.
With that bullish backdrop, Luke dives into a stock your fellow readers asked about. It's a great company knocking on the door of our buy zone – and will probably get there later this year.
It is part of the increasingly urgent water management theme that we've discussed before. (See Power Trends+ from August 20.) Luke also analyzes two related companies whose Quantum Scores are in the buy zone and who are part of the rebuilding that is very much needed in our country.
Unfortunately, water management problems tragically reasserted themselves with Helene's horrifying floods, and our hearts go out to all those impacted.
