Hi there. Sandiganbayan junks last 6 coco levy civil cases
They're off the hook, for good: The Sandiganbayan has thrown out the remaining six coco levy ill-gotten wealth cases against Marcos Sr., Imelda, and the late tycoon Eduardo Cojuangco Jr., citing the 37-year delay in the cases' prosecution.
Following the Senate, the House has also approved a bill that would extend up to 99 years, from the current 50, the period in which private land can be leased to a foreign investor, who would be allowed to sublet the property.
No to splitting Leyte: Leyte Gov. Carlos Jericho Petilla and 41 mayors are opposing a proposal filed by actor-lawmaker Richard Gomez to split the province into two provinces -- a move "totally uncalled for," said those against the measure.
Mega-businessman Manuel V. Pangilinan's "new apple of the eye is tourism," reports Tina Arceo-Dumlao in Business. That's why "he has set his sights on investing up north, in Camp John Hay to be exact," given its "yet-to-be-fully-tapped potential."
