Marcos meets UAE leader as ties hit 50


In his first visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), President Marcos met with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Tuesday as they vowed to deepen bilateral cooperation in trade, sustainability and other economic concerns. The two nations are marking 50 years of diplomatic relations, which were established on Aug. 19, 1974, during the administration of the President's father.

Comelec condemns slay of 2 poll officers


The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has condemned the killings of two acting municipal election officers in Mindanao, in separate attacks that happened only days apart. Comelec Chair George Erwin Garcia said the poll body considered election-related the death of Mark Orlando Vallecer II in Salvador, Lanao del Norte, and of Janeco Allan Pandoy in President Quirino, Sultan Kudarat.
