CMS Announces Proposed Rule on Medicare Part D and Medicaid Prescription Drug Programs

Today, CMS announced the proposed rule Contract Year 2026 Policy and Technical Changes to the Medicare Advantage Program, Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit Program, Medicare Cost Plan Program, and Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (CMS-4208-P). Among other provisions, the proposed rule includes a proposal for the coverage of anti-obesity medications for the treatment of obesity in Medicare and Medicaid. The proposed rule also includes other provisions that would impact Medicaid programs, including provisions related to new federal requirements for dual-eligible special needs plans.
