Ex-SC Justices Carpio, Morales file third case vs Philhealth fund transfer

Hi there. Ex-SC Justices Carpio, Morales file third case vs Philhealth fund transfer

For ordering the transfer of P89.9 billion in excess PhilHealth funds to the government, Finance Secretary Ralph Recto has committed "technical malversation and/or plunder," says a new complaint filed at the Supreme Court by the 1Sambayan Coalition.

There they go— 66 senatorial aspirants for the May 2025 elections have been approved as valid candidates by the Comelec, slightly higher than in 2022, while it also endorsed the filing of petitions to declare 117 others as "nuisance candidates."

Sen. Bong Go did give cash to cops on orders of then-President Duterte, but not as a bounty for slain drug suspects. So goes Sen. Bato Dela Rosa's defense of his colleague and fellow Duterte loyalist, following revelations of drug kill payments in the House.

The Lopez family-led ABS-CBN Corp. continues to bleed, forcing it to retrench another batch of employees  amid financial struggles due to declining ad revenues— the new layoff affecting around 100 workers or about 3 percent of its workforce.

"Kalookan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David's elevation to the consistory of new princes of the Church is a source of pride for the country's Catholic faithful," says today's editorial, especially for what he has "embodied in his ministry as a shepherd of his flock in our troubled times."

Turn Tables

Far Eastern University's (FEU) rookie coach Sean Chambers went through a baptism of fire in the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball tournament. The Tamaraws ended round one with a lone win to show out of seven games, but if their 7672 second-round opening win to Adamson is any indication, FEU is poised for a comeback and Chambers is confident enough to put the whole league on notice.
