Current Funding Opportunities

08/16/2024

The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) is announcing its intent to request a single source cooperative agreement application from the Pennsylvania State University Hershey Medical Center for the continuation of the Type 1 Diabetes in Acute Pancreatitis Consortium (T1DAPC), a clinical consortium composed of one Data Coordinating Center (DCC) and up to ten Clinical Centers (CC) to continue a prospective longitudinal observational study of the incidence of diabetes that occurs during or after an acute pancreatitis (AP) episode, with an emphasis on type 1 diabetes (T1D) [the Diabetes Related to Acute Pancreatitis and its Mechanisms (DREAM) study] (NCT05197920). The study has been designed to gain insight into the incidence, clinical evolution, etiology, type, and pathophysiology of T1D and other forms of diabetes that occur during, or after one or more episodes of AP. The Pennsylvania State University Hershey Medical Center serves as the DCC of the currently funded consortium and has been instrumental in providing all the administrative, regulatory, managerial, logistic, analytic and financial functions to establish and pursue the research objectives of the T1DAPC.
Applications for the CCs can be submitted in response to a separate NOFO, RFA-DK-25-017: Limited Competition for the Continuation of the Type 1 Diabetes in Acute Pancreatitis Consortium Clinical Centers (T1DAPC-CC) (U01 Clinical Trial Optional).

This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is a limited competition that invites U01 competing continuation applications for the continuation of the Type 1 Diabetes in Acute Pancreatitis Consortium (T1DAPC), a clinical consortium composed of one Data Coordinating Center (DCC) and up to ten Clinical Centers (CC) to continue a prospective longitudinal observational study of the incidence of diabetes that occurs during or after an acute pancreatitis (AP) episode, with an emphasis on type 1 diabetes (T1D) [the Diabetes Related to Acute Pancreatitis and its Mechanisms (DREAM) study] (NCT05197920). The study has been designed to gain insight into the incidence, clinical evolution, etiology, type, and pathophysiology of T1D and other forms of diabetes that occur during, or after one or more episodes of AP. The DREAM study is expected to be near its target enrollment of patients who have experienced AP during the current award segment, and so this NOFO will support applications largely intended for completion of recruitment and longitudinal observation of the assembled cohort, including monitoring for the incidence of T1D and other forms of diabetes, and the identification of immune, genetic, environmental, behavioral and demographic risk factors and biomarkers. This competition is limited to Clinical Centers that are currently participating in the consortium and funded by grants awarded through RFA-DK-19-022.
A competing continuation application for the DCC will be submitted in response to a separate NOFO, RFA-DK-25-018: Single Source for the Continuation of the Type 1 Diabetes in Acute Pancreatitis Consortium - Data Coordinating Center (T1DAPC-DCC) (U01 Clinical Trial Optional).

This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) requests applications for Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Core Centers that are designed to support and enhance the national research effort in PKD through developing and broadly sharing innovative research tools and resources (e.g., reagents, data, services, and expertise that would be difficult or impractical to support by individual research project grants or within individual laboratories. The PKD Core Centers are expected to work collaboratively with the Central Coordinating Site as part of a national PKD Research Resource Consortium (PKD RRC).
This NOFO is open to new applications and renewals.

This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) requests applications for the Central Coordinating Site for the Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Core Centers. The Central Coordinating Site is expected to work collaboratively with the PKD Core Centers as part of the PKD Research Resource Consortium (PKD RRC) and serve as a national resource for the larger research community. The Central Coordinating Site will provide central administrative and communications support, and oversee data sharing for the PKD RRC. The Central Coordinating Site will also administer a Pilot and Feasibility Award program. All activities within the PKD RRC are expected to address the overall goal of improving our understanding of the pathogenesis, progression, prevention and clinical course of PKD through enhanced sharing of resources and establishment of a robust national research community. This NOFO is a companion announcement to RFA-DK-25-016: Polycystic Kidney Disease Core Centers (U54).
This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) requires a Plan for Enhancing Diverse Perspectives (PEDP).
