GO TIME: The Democratic National Convention has arrived in Chicago and delegates are gearing up for a busy week of meetings and parties, with an emphasis on parties. Headliner alert: Vice President Kamala Harris landed in Chicago Sunday ahead of the convention. Greeting her: Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton and the Illinois delegation. Pic! President Joe Biden lands today. Harris will be in and out with a quick campaign stop tomorrow in Milwaukee. Road to the convention: Getting to this point was rough for Democrats after much hand-wringing over whether Biden should stay at the top of the ticket. Turns out the pivot to Harris was fairly smooth, though convention planners had to tear up some of their plans. Speaker line-ups changed, videos were re-shot and messaging has been carefully tweaked. It’s a “delicate balance” of introducing Harris to the world while also giving Biden his due, insiders told POLITICO’s Eugene Daniels and your Playbook host. Our story: Convention reinvents itself for new headliner It’s the first in-person convention Democrats have had in eight years, so they’re excited. A grand hat tip: “We couldn't think of a better way to thank everyone who helped us to make this a great week for the DNC, the ticket in November and for the city than a great send off party,” Sacks told PLAYBOOK. “When we found out Brandi was available we asked Crooked Media to let us take the night (that they initially had) and handle the planning. It’s going to be a blast,” he said. — Black Caucus: Congresswoman Robin Kelly hosted a welcome reception on behalf of the Congressional Black Caucus at Pizzeria Portofino on the Chicago River on Sunday. Kelly arranged for the Anita Dee Yacht Charters to dock next to the restaurant to accommodate the overflow crowd. Speakers: Gov.
