Pagcor gets ball rolling on casino privatization 


The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. is bent on pursuing plans to kick off by third quarter of 2025 the privatization of 45 casinos that it operates, expecting proceeds ranging from P60 billion to P80 billion, according to Pagcor chair and chief executive Alejandro Tengco told lawmakers on Monday.

PH household spending to strengthen, says think tank


Household spending in the Philippines is expected to grow by "a strong 5.5 percent " in 2023 thanks to easing inflation, according to BMI Country Risk & Industry Research. However, the Fitch group subsidiary also said that if inflation remained relatively high compared with the government's target range of 2 percent to 4 percent, household spending power may be undermined.

91-day T-bill rate declines


The average rate on the benchmark 91-day Treasury bills decreased by 10.6 basis points (bps) amid mixed results from the latest weekly auction held on Monday.

PH bans Dutch poultry due to bird blue outbreak


The Department of Agriculture (DA) temporarily banned the entry of poultry products from the Netherlands as the European country reported a bird flu or avian influenza outbreak. In a memorandum order, the DA prohibited the importation of Dutch wild birds and their products, including poultry meat, day-old chicks, eggs and semen effective immediately.
