MIPS Automatic Extreme and Uncontrollable Circumstances (EUC) Policy Applied for Puerto Rico and Parts of Florida In response to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) designation of Hurricane Fiona and Hurricane Ian as major disasters and the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) determination that public health emergencies exist for the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and certain areas in Florida, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has determined that the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) automatic extreme and uncontrollable circumstances (EUC) policy will apply to MIPS eligible clinicians in Puerto Rico and in designated areas of Florida.  MIPS eligible clinicians in these areas will be automatically identified and have all 4 performance categories reweighted to 0% during the data submission period for the 2022 performance period (January 3, 2023 to March 31, 2023).
