Two Hollywood stars who also happen to be members of the Church of Scientology are accused of rape. But at least one of them claims that his arrest and charges are really attacks on his church, not his bad behavior. And the other claims it is the Church itself that is spearheading the charges against him. Who are the stars and how does their religion fit into the accusations against them? (read more)

Over this past week, we've spent a lot of time talking about the seats that the GOP might flip in the House and the Senate. But those aren't the only potentials to flip states red that are out there. As we head into the midterms, a total of 36 states will be voting for governors. And in several cases, races, where a "clear winner" emerged early, have now tightened into odds that are just too close to call. Oregon and New York are prime examples of this trend showing sentiment shifting to the right among voters who have traditionally leaned left. But they aren't the only examples. Which other governor's races could see Blue states turn Red? (read more)

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a socialist Democrat from New York, said that Latino voters are defecting from the Democratic Party because the party failed to accomplish immigration reform, but she also claimed that Republicans are succeeding because they are anti-immigrant. Ocasio-Cortez made the inconsistent statements while appearing on the popular lefty podcast known as "Pod Save America," which is hosted by three individuals who formerly worked in the Obama administration. Ocasio-Cortez's claims that the Republican Party is anti-immigrant were never questioned by any of the podcast hosts, despite the fact that she claimed that pro-immigration Latinos were defecting from the Democratic Party and entering the ranks of the Republican Party. Older Americans are more afraid of outliving their riches than actually dying. And retirees have a legitimate concern about maintaining their investments. Since people are living longer, the money must last for a longer time. Making problems worse, income produced through tried-and-true methods of retirement planning would not be sufficient today. Seniors must therefore use some of their capital to cover living expenses. The retirement investment strategy of your parents is no longer relevant. Reductions in bond yields significantly impact today's retirees, and the outlook for Social Security isn't great either. Social Security benefits are still being paid now and in the foreseeable future, but it has been predicted that the funds will run out as early as 2035. When the retirement investments you relied on to generate income aren't doing so, how can you prevent dipping into your principal? You can only reduce your spending so much until you must find another way to make money through investments. (read more) |

A Georgia man was caught on security cameras throwing quite the fit in a restaurant drive-thru. The man is seen outside of his car at the window in the footage when he reaches inside the restaurant to pick up and throw nearby items. He throws multiple large drink containers toward staff during his outburst that local police referred to as a "temper tantrum." "This guy took 'Have it your way' too far after he decided his order wasn't to his liking (it didn't have anything to do with ice cream machines, I swear) and threw a temper tantrum, among other things, at the drive-thru of one of our local fast food restaurants," Waynesboro Police Department said in a statement. But what happened after the bizarre outburst? Did police arrive in time to arrest the man? Or is he still on the run? (read more)

Lucy Studey of Iowa says that her farmer father, Donald Dean Studey, was a serial killer who murdered up to 70 women. She also says that she knows where the bodies are buried because she had to help dispose of them. Studey revealed to authorities that she was made to use a wheelbarrow to move the women's corpses across farmland and dump them into a 100 foot well. "He would just tell us we had to go to the well, and I knew what that meant," she said. Donald Dean Studey died back in 2013 at the age of 75. Studey says she wants the families of the victims to have closure. She says she has tried to tell people for years what happened, but that no one would listen to her. Here's the thing that most of the victims had in common with one another, and what cadaver dogs discovered on the property. (read more) |
