National Minority Quality Forum presents a webinar on the COVID-19 Prevention Network Community Engagement Strategy Join the National Minority Quality Forum on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. EST for a webinar on the COVID-19 Vaccine and Communities of Color. Learn about the ways the COVID-19 Prevention Network is engaging Black, Latinx, and Indigenous communities around COVID-19 and vaccine science. This event is relevant to NIMHD's work on the CEAL initiative, which is focused on community engagement to address misinformation about COVID-19 and clinical trials and promote inclusion of populations disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. The COVID-19 Prevention Network (CoVPN) which was established by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health, to enroll thousands of volunteers for large-scale Phase 3 clinical trials testing a variety of investigational vaccines and monoclonal antibodies to protect people from COVID-19. As COVID-19 is impacting entire communities with a disproportionate effect on communities of color, diverse community participation in vaccine trials is at the heart of the CoVPN. As part of the commitment to meaningful community engagement, the CoVPN has developed a strategic plan to provide an overview of strategies and efforts, which involves developing tools and materials for potential participants, clinical trials sites, and community education programs focused on engaging stakeholder groups to ensure that communities have the resources they need to make informed decisions. | |
