Nine people were hospitalized. - The suspect is a 14-year-old student who will be charged with murder and tried as an adult, Chris Hosey, director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, said at a late-afternoon briefing aired live by CNN.
Barrow County (Ga.) Sheriff Jud Smith said at the briefing that a school resource officer engaged the armed suspect: "He gave up, got on the ground and was taken into custody. … We don't know of any targets at this point." - The school is in Atlanta's outer exurbs.
