TURNMIRE TRADING NEWS MINUTE “Pay No Attention To The Man Behind The Curtain…!” Imagine a grocery store where you can grab your favorite snacks and breeze right out the door, no checkout lines or cashiers to hold you up. That was the promise of Amazon's Just Walk Out technology. It seemed like magic — cameras and sensors would know exactly what you took, and you'd be automatically charged. But here's the twist: it wasn't quite as futuristic as it sounded. Amazon's secret ingredient? Over 1,000 people in India watching videos and making sure the technology didn't, mess up. Turns out, even fancy AI needs a little human help sometimes! This isn't the only case of AI being a bit more, well, "assisted" than advertised. Remember those virtual assistants that promised to schedule your meetings or that AI that could supposedly build apps by itself? Just more hidden humans behind the scenes making the magic happen. Don't get us wrong, AI is pretty cool stuff. But there's a difference between training wheels and outright fibbing about what the technology can do. The good news? Regulators are getting wise to this "AI washing" and cracking down on companies that mislead us. So, the next time you hear about some mind-blowing AI, take a deep breath. It might not be quite as magical as it sounds. AMZN Outlook As for Amazon (AMZN), our own Jeffry Turnmire recently gave us his assessment of the stock. With rare exception, the stock has been on a mega run since hitting a bottom at the start of 2023 and is overextended. Jeffry warns us that it’s getting close to a critical resistance point as it approaches the upper 180s. The likely scenario is a retrace, possibly to the $160 level. If, however, the stock manages to break through the resistance in the upper 180s, it could go on a run as high as 202 or even 220. The trouble with a run that high, Jeffry warns, is that the retrace after that will have to be much deeper, potentially bringing the stock all the way down to the 109 level.
