Inflation in the United States is declining. According to new statistics from the Bureau of Labor Statistics released on Tuesday, consumer prices grew in May at the slowest annual pace since March 2021. A key inflation barometer, the Consumer Price Index, which tracks changes in prices across a wide range of goods and services, showed a 4% annual increase for the 12 months ended in May. This is a significant slowdown from April's 4.9% and somewhat below economists' predictions of a 4.1% increase (according to Refinitiv). That means for the eleventh month in a row, inflation has decreased. The monthly price increase was 0.1%. From April to May, price increases of 0.2% were predicted by economists. The influence of base effects, as well as reductions in energy and food prices, contributed to the overall decline. Inflation was on the rise at this time last year, having just hit a 41-year high of 9.1% in June. (read more) |

Illinois is growing tired of library books being banned. So much so that the state passed a law outlawing book bans. Governor J.B. Pritzker signed the bill into law on Monday. With the new law established, it is now illegal to ban books from libraries based on their origin, background and views of those who contributed to their creation. The move comes after several states have made headlines for their controversial book bans. But how does the new Illinois law work, and are there any loopholes for banning books with specific content? Here are all of the details we have so far. (read more) |

There's a simple trading opportunity that appears almost every trading day, between 9:30 and 10:45 am EST where traders are making between $300-$1,100+ per contract. One of my favorite parts about this trade is how predictable it is. It occurs about 3-5 times each week. And once you know what you’re looking for, and how to enter/exit the trade this could become another nice stream of income for you. I’m not sure how long I’ll leave this guide up for. So do yourself a favor and take 5 seconds to download it now. At least you’ll have a copy stored for future use! NBC News cites an investigation by a government watchdog that determined White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre had broken the Hatch Act in the run-up to the midterm elections in 2022. The Special Counsel's Office charged the press secretary with breaching a provision that forbids government workers from using their official capacity to influence elections in a letter seen by the network on Wednesday. Jean-Pierre allegedly violated the code when she called conservatives names like "mega MAGA Republicans" and made other derogatory remarks about them during press conferences. The conservative watchdog group Protect the Public's Trust lodged a complaint against the press secretary for the remarks made in November. Jean-Pierre indeed committed a Hatch Act violation, but the Office of Special Counsel "decided to close this matter without further action." (read more) | |

Gold stocks are an easy way to add the precious metal to your portfolio. A desirable asset, gold may offer investors consistent, dependable returns and the benefits of diversification. Additionally, adding gold to your portfolio doesn't require you to spend money on big, bulky bars or the storage space necessary for them. Stocks, a method even novice investors are familiar with, are one of several ways to invest in gold. Gold stocks offer an appealing option to gain exposure to the advantages gold has to offer as an investment since they strike a compromise between the potentially high returns of stocks and the lower risk that this historically valued precious metal has to offer. Several gold stocks are available, and selecting one that is ideal for you will depend on a number of different criteria. Having said that, there are some choices that are worthwhile. (read more) |

You've probably heard of someone getting flesh eating bacteria. And when you recall that story, they almost always went into a body of water with an exposed cut or scrape, or fell and cut themselves in a dirty area outdoors. But for one man in Florida, he contracted the aggressive bacteria from a family member who bit him. Donnie Adams says he was breaking up a family fight, when he was accidentally bitten in the process. Adams didn't think much of it at first, but the bite on his thigh started to swell, turn red and burn. He knew it was infected, but little did he know, it was infected with flesh eating bacteria. Here's what happened next. (read more) |

Twenty-four-year-old Terah Meishalyn of Arkansas is raising the roof…or rather, dancing on it. When she was told that her leaking roof would take $10,000 to fix, Meishalyn naturally decided that the best way to go about getting the funds would be to perform a strip show on top of her house. The former dental assistant said, "I was obviously feeling a little bit down about that and figured I might as well use humor to deal with the situation because I could either laugh or cry." She says she took to her roof to take a series of humorous selfies, but was soon encouraged by people online to take raunchier shots. As anyone in that situation would certainly do, Meishalyn appeased the random requests and even opened an OnlyFans account. (read more) |
