Officials announced that the officer would face additional charges after the 95-year-old Australian woman who was hit with a stun gun by a cop in her care home last week passed away on Wednesday. On May 17, dementia sufferer Clare Nowland was frightened by Constable Kristian White and then fell to the ground, breaking her skull. After workers reported that Nowland had stolen a steak knife from the kitchen, White and another detective went to the specialized care home in New South Wales. With the aid of a walker and the knife in her hand, Nowland approached the cops "at a slow pace" when White deployed her stun gun. White was initially charged with recklessly causing grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and common assault. The charges were expected to be upgraded after Nowland succumbed to her injuries at a Cooma hospital. (read more) |

Yet another federal court nominee by President Joe Biden has turned down the opportunity. Federal prosecutor Jabari Wamble was recently nominated by Biden to a Kansas district court seat. But in a letter to the President on Tuesday, Wamble said thanks, but no thanks. Michael Delany was the other nominee to back out of his appointment. A Kentucky man accused of shooting his roommate who ate the last Hot Pocket has been charged with felony assault. The roommate, who was not named, sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the weekend shooting. Clifton Williams was arrested early Sunday and charged with second-degree assault. According to a police citation, the two roommates had a physical fight over the frozen sandwich. The victim tried to fight back but ultimately left. Williams got a gun and followed the roommate outside, where he shot the roommate in the buttocks. Williams is being charged with assault and has been ordered not to have contact with the victim. Manhattan college professor Shellyne Rodriguez went viral after cursing out anti-abortion students at Hunter College. On Tuesday, she held a machete up against the neck of a reporter while threatening to "chop" him up. "Get the f*** away from my door, or I'm gonna chop you up with this machete!" Rodriguez shouted at veteran reporter Reuven Fenton when he knocked on her apartment door. After putting the blade to his neck, she continued to yell, "Get the f*** away from my door!
