2023 MIPS Value Pathways (MVPs) Updates Are you a Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) (MIPS) eligible clinician? Reporting a MIPS Value Pathway (MVP) is a new option for meeting your MIPS reporting requirements in the 2023 performance year of the Quality Payment Program (QPP). Visit the Explore MVPs webpage to learn more about MVP reporting and the 12 finalized MVPs available for the 2023 performance year. You can review all the finalized MVPs on the Explore MVPs webpage, including the measures and activities in each MVP. Participate in MVP Candidate Development The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) wants to collaborate with you to develop the future state of reporting for MIPS. We're committed to working closely with you – clinicians, patients, specialty societies, and the general public – to establish additional MVPs that support meaningful measurement of a specialty, medical condition, or public health priority, and are important to patient care. Your involvement is critical to ensuring that MVPs align with the clinical needs and practical considerations of a given specialty or medical condition. CMS has several resources related to MVP development and maintenance. The updated MIPS Value Pathways (MVPs) Development Resources (ZIP) includes the following materials: 2023-2024 MVP Needs and Priorities (PDF) MVP Development Process Graphic (PDF) 2023 MVP Development Standardized Template (PDF and Word) 2023 MVP Submission Template Crosswalk (PDF and Word) MVP Candidate Feedback Now Available As described in the CY 2023 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) Final Rule, CMS broadened the opportunities for the public to provide feedback on MVP candidates before they're potentially proposed in rulemaking. We accepted feedback on these MVP candidates through February 8, 2023. The feedback received for each MVP candidate and answers to potential questions about the feedback process are now available on the QPP website. Note: If CMS determines that changes should be made and that the modified MVP candidate will move forward through rulemaking, we won't notify the group or organization that originally submitted the MVP candidate before rulemaking. Reminder: Make Recommendations to Finalized MVPs You can recommend changes to finalized MVPs for CMS to consider in future rulemaking throughout the year. Send your recommendations via email to PIMMSMVPSupport@gdit.com for CMS's consideration. At a minimum, you must provide the title of the finalized MVP and a short description of the proposed change(s) by performance category as organized on the Maintenance Process for MVPs webpage. We'll evaluate your recommendations and determine if they're appropriate and aligned with the broader vision for the MVP. Any changes to finalized MVPs will be addressed through future rulemaking. Materials from Recent MVP Webinars Now Available CMS hosted the 2023 MVP Maintenance Feedback webinar on Wednesday, February 15, from 3:30 p.m. – 5 p.m. ET to review maintenance recommendations received to date for updating the 12 previously finalized MVPs and gave the public an opportunity to weigh in on the potential updates prior to rulemaking. The webinar materials are now available on the QPP Webinar Library.
