Breaking News: Manchin concedes on tying his energy bill to government funding

Joe Manchin asked Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer on Tuesday to remove his energy permitting package from a short-term government funding bill.

Manchin's concession comes as Senate Republicans were set to block an effort to advance his permitting proposal, and it likely paves the way for the spending patch to move ahead and keep the government open before funding expires on Friday.

Schumer said on the floor that he and Manchin would "continue to have conversations about the best way" to move forward on the permitting effort before the end of the year. Read the latest.
