In the wake of the FBI's politically motivated raid on President Donald Trump's Mar-a-lago estate, former vice president Mike Pence is defending the agency. Pence thinks Republicans ought to give the FBI the benefit of the doubt, even as it assisted in painting Trump as a Russian agent while he was in the White House in an effort to provoke his impeachment. Now, the recent raid has added fuel to the political fire. So how are Trump supporters reacting to Mike Pence's latest comments about the FBI and Department of Justice? (read more) |

Purchasing shares of battered dividend-paying firms can be a very profitable move for your portfolio because dividend yields climb as stock prices fall. So if you can secure a few shares of businesses with ultra-high yields above 11%, there's a chance you'll be able to secure yearly gains that are higher than the market's long-term average annual growth of roughly 10%. You would need to choose the appropriate stock to do that, as many companies with high dividend yields have significant issues or other compelling reasons why they most likely won't be able to continue paying their dividends out consistently over time. The most advantageous are often real estate investment trusts (REITs), whose revenue flows are typically derived from collecting debt repayments from rent or mortgage obligations, which are high on their clients' lists of things they must keep paying no matter what. Let's look at two recently battered REITs with really high dividend yields so you can understand what would be worth buying when the price drops. (read more) |

| A Florida woman has been behind bars twice this summer for calling 911. Carla Jefferson not only obsessively calls 911, but she calls local law enforcement non-emergency lines as well. And it's not to ask for help or report a crime or emergency. Court documents reveal that Jefferson "harasses, belittles, swears at, argues with" anyone who answers her calls to 911 or law enforcement agencies. The St. Petersburg Police Department revealed her calls alone accounted for 10% of all the calls received by their department this year. Last month, she called the department 512 times in a 24 hour span. Just how many calls has Jefferson made to Florida law enforcement agencies and 911 combined this year so far? The number is absolutely astounding. (read more) |

While some Republicans are calling to defund the FBI following the raid on Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence, former Vice President Mike Pence is singing a different tune. "We can hold the attorney general accountable for the decision that he made without attacking the rank-and-file law enforcement personnel at the FBI," Pence said before adding, "The Republican Party is the party of law and order. Our party stands with the men and women who stand on the thin blue line on the federal and state and local level." Several House Republicans along with former Trump administration officials said the FBI, which employs roughly 35,000 people, should be defunded or even abolished following the raid. Included in that list are Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.), Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), and Trump's former White House budget director Russ Vought. Pence says while he was "deeply troubled" by the raid, he believes that the FBI has been politicized and should not be broken up. Here's what Pence is calling on Attorney General [Merrick] Garland to do following the incident. (read more) |
