BREAKING NEWS: Federal judge rejects GOP push to toss 127,000 ballots in Texas

A federal judge in Houston has turned aside a push by Republicans to toss out nearly 127,000 ballots cast by drive-through voting in recent days in the state's largest county, which is a major Democratic stronghold.

But, during a hearing on a suit challenging the practice, U.S. District Court Judge Andrew Hanen sounded dubious about the legality of the continued use of the drive-through arrangement in Harris County on Election Day, and urged voters not to partake in it.

The judge also granted a request by Republicans to preserve all records indicating which votes were cast using the method, in case of further litigation or appeals.

Ruling from the bench after a hearing that stretched to nearly three hours, Hanen said the GOP candidates lacked legal standing to sue under prevailing legal precedents.
