| In recent years, the very public downfall of prominent figures has served as an ominous warning to anyone who considers stepping over the line of culturally acceptable norms. From media icons to the average joe, many seem to have been brought down by the cancel culture movement. But as we look a little deeper, another trend is emerging. Some who have been "canceled" wear it as a badge of honor and have parlayed their newfound notoriety into an audience of people who reject political correctness. So has so-called "cancel culture" become an important tool for demanding accountability? Or does it lead to greater polarization and threaten freedom of expression? |
