The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved a five-year extension of North Carolina's section 1115 demonstration, "North Carolina Medicaid Reform Demonstration." This extension continues previously approved authorities, including mandatory managed care and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment for individuals residing in an Institution for Mental Disease (IMD) and brings the Healthy Opportunities Pilots in line with the CMS framework for health-related social needs. The extension also provides new authority for continuous eligibility for children, an enhanced home and community-based benefit, health information technology (HIT) incentive-based programs, workforce initiatives, coverage for foster care youth who turned 18 years old from other states, designated state health programs, and the reentry demonstration initiative.

Today's approval and other administrative documents can be found on the Medicaid.gov demonstration page.
