TEARFUL TESTIMONY   In a house hearing on Friday, confessed drug lord Kerwin Espinosa recalls the death of his father, former Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr., who was killed by police officers inside his jail cell. —LYN RILLON

Hi there. Garma says Duterte rewarded cops for drug war kills

In tears, former police officer Royina Garma dropped perhaps the biggest bombshell in the House quad committee hearings when she said former President Rodrigo Duterte offered cash rewards for every drug suspect killed in his brutal drug war.

Also at the House, confessed drug lord Kerwin Espinosa said former PNP chief and now Sen. Bato dela Rosa had forced him to implicate then Sen. Leila de Lima in the drug trade — or he would end up like his father, slain mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr.

"I'm a little dismayed that she doesn't think that we are friends. I always thought that we were. But maybe I was deceived." Thus did President Marcos lament his UniTeam partner VP Sara Duterte's earlier comment that she was "never friends with him to begin with."

Chinese national Lin Xunhan, said to be the "boss of the boss" of a network of illegal POGOs involved in human trafficking, online scams, and other crimes, was collared Thursday night in Biñan, Laguna, said the presidential anti-crime commission.

Hallyu in full flower, even in literature: From President Yoon Suk Yeol to K-pop megastars BTS, South Korea erupted into celebration at the news that novelist Han Kang has won the country's first Nobel Prize for literature — also the first by an Asian woman.

OPINION

Eating with two spoons

There is a sense of survivor's guilt I feel for having made it out of there alive, appearing almost unscathed. A part of me believes I didn't even qualify for psychiatric care, a total lie by the way. It's just my mind playing its cruel tricks on me, I know that much.
