1115 Waiver Demonstration - Louisiana Reentry

On September 27, 2024, Louisiana submitted a request for a new five-year Medicaid section 1115(a) demonstration entitled "Louisiana Reentry Demonstration." This demonstration aims to provide Medicaid coverage to qualified individuals prior to their release from prison or jail. The state seeks to cover Medicaid services, including case management, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), and a 30-day supply of prescription drugs, among other services, for 90 days before a Medicaid-eligible individual's release from prison or jail. By offering these services, Louisiana aims to improve access to healthcare coverage, continuity of care, the likelihood of better health outcomes, and supporting individuals to become productive members of the community. The federal public comment period will be open from October 11, 2024 through November 10, 2024.

Pending Application
