NOW SHE LOOKS THE PART From being all smiles and at ease when turned over by Indonesia to Philippine custody on Thursday, Alice Guo now looks every inch a detainee. Hi there. Tarlac court allows Senate to continue grilling Guo

Two months after skipping the Senate inquiry into POGOs and fleeing the country, dismissed mayor Alice Guo will be returning to face the senators after the Tarlac court that ordered her arrest allowed Guo to attend the hearing on Monday. Abangan!

Groufies with a fugitive? The arrest of Alice Guo in Indonesia was quickly overshadowed by public outrage over the visibly convivial way she was treated by Philippine officials who fetched her — whether by NBI agents in a car or the DILG and PNP chiefs.

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, the country's unemployment rate surged to a one-year high of 4.7 percent last July — translating to 2.38 million jobless Filipinos — as more young Filipinos joined the labor force but have yet to find a job.

In the aftermath of the latest outburst of gun violence in the US, the 14-year-old boy who shot four people dead at Georgia high school faces four felony murder counts, while his father was charged with manslaughter for "knowingly" allowing his son to possess a weapon.

How do cities form and develop? In Property, architect Joel Luna traces how cities are frequently born "as a response to crisis or even conflict... adapting to changing contexts, much like how living organisms adapt based on information in their surroundings."
