NYPD commissioner to resign amid federal probe

NEW YORK – NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban is set to step down Thursday as leader of the nation's largest police force, one week after federal investigators seized his phone, according to two people with knowledge of the matter.

The pending departure comes after federal agents also requested the phone of Caban's twin brother, his chief of staff and other high-ranking police officials as part of a corruption probe into Mayor Eric Adams' inner circle.
