PH gets $500-M climate support

The Philippines has secured a $500-million climate financing support from Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Department of Finance (DOF) said on Thursday. ADB President Masatsugu Asakawa said that it was finalizing the financing support to the country under its Climate Change Action Program Subprogram 2.

Acting Trade Secretary Cristine Roque seeks to develop the Philippines' billion-peso beauty industry, vowing to support micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the sector under her watch. "We have to realize that a lot of the MSMEs are also into the beauty business, especially now the beauty business is very strong," Roque tells reporters.

PT&T Corp. is joining the growing satellite broadband market in the country with the creation of a joint venture with Australian technology company Netlinkz Ltd. for the deployment of "smaller, portable and mobile satellite dishes." PT&T said the partnership was envisioned to provide internet access in areas where connectivity is lacking.
