CMS Releases Set of Quality Improvement Tools to Improve Behavioral Health Follow Up Care

View in browser | Distributed by Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services (CMCS) Together, Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) are the largest payer of mental health services in the US. Almost 40% of Medicaid and CHIP beneficiaries experience mental illness and/or substance use disorders (SUD). From September 2021 to June 2023 the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) facilitated the Improving Behavioral Health Follow-up Care learning collaborative. In follow up to the learning collaborative, CMS is releasing a set of QI Tools designed to help states improve Behavioral Health follow-up care including: a driver diagram/change ideas table, a measurement strategy, as well as a highlights brief that gives an overview of projects states completed as part of the Improving Behavioral Health Follow-up Care Affinity Group.
