Congress is having trouble deciding on a new set of Federal Aviation Administration policies because of a number of controversial plans to deal with the lack of airline pilots. One senator has warned his fellow lawmakers that they will have blood on their hands if less training for pilots leads to a fatal accident. Lawmakers have proposed raising the age when a pilot can retire, letting more training take place in a flying simulator instead of the cockpit, and speeding up training programs. The measures are very controversial and are meant to fix the lack of airline pilots that the pandemic made worse. Planes are already being grounded because of the lack, and it is expected to get worse in the years to come. A source with knowledge of the situation said that a plan to change the minimum number of training hours for an airline pilot stopped a Senate committee from voting on the FAA renewal, a package of laws that would have changed the rules.

The six-week walkout in the Oregon State Senate is officially over. Lawmakers agreed on a deal that would bring state senators back to work to end the state's longest walkout, and the second-longest walkout in the nation. Concessions were made on both sides of the aisle to compromise on measures concerning abortion and gun rights - two of the main topics that ultimately caused the walkout. But what kind of compromises did Democrats and Republicans make? Here are all of the details that helped end the historic walkout. (read more) |

Harvard lawyer Alan Dershowitz wrote a report on Thursday for the Gatestone Institute website about how hard it is for President Trump to defend himself against the left's many false accusations. There are troubling rumors that one reason lawyers are turning down the case is that they are afraid of legal and job repercussions. The goal of an unsavory organization called "The 65 Project" is to scare lawyers into not defending Trump or anyone else connected to him. They have said that they will report any lawyers who do this to the bar. And now, Trump's lawyers say that one of the prosecutors told Stanley Woodward, the lawyer for Trump's co-defendant Waltine Nauta, that his application to become a judge could be hurt if he keeps defending Nauta and doesn't try to get him to turn against Trump. The 65 Project says that they are "protecting democracy" by making America less democratic and free. (read more)

A man in Florida was just relaxing on a patio while charging his cell phone when the police suddenly arrived and arrested him. And while that sounds like quite a bizarre situation, it's actually because the patio he was using was not his own. He decided to randomly charge his phone in the outdoor space, and make himself at home for a bit, without permission from the homeowner. When the homeowner tried to go out to the patio that morning, she noticed the man sitting there and called police. After police arrived and arrested him for trespassing, they also found drugs on him, which made matters worse, of course. But why did he decide to just hang out on some random patio? Here's the bizarre excuse he gave the police when they asked. (read more) |

AI is by far the biggest tech investing trend of 2023. But Ross Givens says the #1 artificial intelligence stock is NOT Microsoft, Google, Amazon or Apple. Nope — his research is pointing to a tiny, under-the-radar stock that’s trading for just $3 dollars right now… And could soon shoot to the moon, handing early investors a windfall. This company already has 98 registered patents for cutting-edge voice and sound recognition technology… And has lined up major partnerships with Honda, Netflix, Pandora, Mercedes Benz and many, many others. So if you missed out on Microsoft when it first went public back in 1986… This could be your shot at redemption.

Colorado plastic surgeon Geoffrey Kim was found guilty of attempted reckless manslaughter on Wednesday in connection to the death of his teenage patient, Emmalyn Nguyen. Eighteen-year-old Nguyen died after going into cardiac arrest and Kim neglected to call 911 at the time. "The verdict is vindication for the family. It is finally justice. He had the opportunity to get her emergency medical help and stopped his entire staff from doing that. I think it is a reminder to the medical community that they are not above the law," said Nguyen family attorney, David Woodruff. Here's what medical staffers had to say about what happened on that day and what Kim's attorneys are arguing. (read more) |
