Former Vice President Mike Pence subtly defended former President Donald Trump in an interview Tuesday, hours after a jury found Trump liable for sexual abuse and defamation. Pence sidestepped the question of whether the jury's verdict affects his view of Trump's fitness for the presidency. "I think that's a question for the American people," Pence said. "I'm sure the president will defend himself in that matter." He added his prediction that those very voters would pay little attention to what he cast as a distraction from their daily lives. "It's just one more instance where — at a time when American families are struggling, when our economy is hurting, when the world seems to become a more dangerous place almost every day — [there's] just one more story focusing on my former running mate that I know is a great fascination to members of the national media, but I just don't think is where the American people are focused." Minnesota is one step closer to making deepfake sexual images and content that can influence elections illegal. "We need to protect all Minnesotans who might become victims of those that seek to use technology or artificial intelligence to threaten, harass, or ... humiliate anybody," Republican Sen. Eric Lucero, of St. Michael, said in his support of the bill. Only a small handful of other states have passed similar legislation. Here's what we know about the bill that just advanced in Minnesota. President Joe Biden visited SUNY Westchester Community College on Wednesday to speak about the debt ceiling. When House Republicans refused to give in to Biden's demands on the debt ceiling, he threatened that veterans' access to healthcare would be cut. He lied about his achievements and recounted odd anecdotes about his family. Then, Biden became disoriented on stage after stumbling through his speech. Again. It's clear that his mental state is getting worse. (read more) | |

As a result of slowing economic development, firms cutting down on output, layoffs at the workplace, a falling stock market, and cautious consumer spending, businesses are forced to eliminate even more positions. The general assumption is that America will experience both towards the end of this year or in early 2024. However, downturns are a normal part of the business cycle, leaving misery and suffering in their wake. Since the Great Depression, the US has seen 14 recessions, and people who survive most of them seem to have some of these financial characteristics in common. So don't worry if you can't see them in yourself. There's still time to adjust — but get into good habits now before the storm arrives. (read more) |

Have you ever visited a cemetery and saw loose change on someone's gravestone? Though it may look odd, there is a reason behind the move. And it actually ties into military service. When you find coins on a gravestone in America, the change is almost always left on a former military member's grave. Each coin left at the graveside also means something different. For example, someone leaving a penny means something entirely different than someone leaving a quarter, nickel, or dime. But why are people leaving coins on the graves of veterans? And what does each coin mean? (read more) |

Last year, former Buffalo Bills punter Matt Araiza was accused of rape when he was a student-athlete at San Diego State. Now prosecutors have revealed that he was not actually present during the alleged attack. Following that news, Araiza had broken his silence on the matter. "I am aware that the facts of this case have been made public. I am deeply gratified for the thorough work of the DA's office in San Diego and for all the witnesses that were willing to come forward and tell the truth. I am thankful that the facts of this case as provided by the witnesses will prove that what I have been saying from the beginning is, in fact, the truth." Araiza went on to say that he hopes people will assess him on facts and not the false claims that have surrounded him. Here's why Araiza hasn't had to worry about facing any punishment from the allegations from the NFL. (read more) |
