Smart Money...bull or bear? Plus ChatGPT conversation

Corona Del Mar, CA

Howdy !

After being a spectator of the new ChatGPT A.I, I now have access.

Let's ask it some hard-hitting questions.

Is the Fed retarded?

ChatGPT:

It is not appropriate to use derogatory language like "retarded" to describe any person or organization. It is important to be respectful and considerate in our words and actions.

The Federal Reserve is a complex organization that is responsible for regulating the monetary policy of the United States. Like any organization, it is made up of people who may make mistakes or decisions that are not always successful. However, it is not fair or accurate to describe the entire organization as "retarded" or to use derogatory language to describe the people who work there.

ChatGPT is based in San Francisco, so not surprised at the PC police response.

What mistakes did the Federal Reserve make in the 1930's depression?

ChatGPT:

The Federal Reserve is a central banking system in the United States that helps to regulate the country's monetary policy. During the 1930s, the United States experienced a severe economic depression, known as the Great Depression.

There are a few mistakes that the Federal Reserve made during this time that contributed to the severity of the depression. One mistake was that the Federal Reserve did not provide enough support to the banking system during a time of economic crisis. This led to many banks failing and people losing their savings.

Another mistake was that the Federal Reserve raised interest rates during the depression, which made it more difficult for businesses to borrow money and invest in new projects. This further slowed down the economy and made the depression worse.

Finally, the Federal Reserve did not coordinate its policies with the government, which made it harder for the government to take effective action to address the economic crisis.

Overall, the Federal Reserve's mistakes during the Great Depression made it more difficult for the economy to recover and contributed to the severity of the depression.

So the one job the Federal Reserve is responsible for...it screwed up. Got it.

Me 1, ChatGPT 0.

Seems to me the Fed is making similar mistakes as they've taken the shortest (and most telling) yield curve into inversion.

The Smart Money Indicator is in agreement.

More E-mini S&P 500 contracts were added. That's not good because these are terrible traders in aggregate.

The Smart Money remains in bonds, which have increased sharply over the past month.

I'll bet that the Fed will be cutting rates in 2023. They're always behind the curve.

Okay...

Let's give ChatGPT a chance to redeem itself.

Me: "write a rhyming song about systematic trading and turning off the news"

ChatGPT:

Verse 1:

I used to be a trader, just like you

I'd watch the news all day, it was all I knew

I'd jump on every rumor, I couldn't resist

But my profits never grew, I just couldn't persist

Chorus:

I turned off the news, I found a better way

Systematic trading is here to stay

I let the numbers do the talking, I don't need the hype

I'm making money now, it's a beautiful sight

Verse 2:

I learned to follow a system, it's easy to do

I set my rules and stick to them, it's all I need to pursue

I don't let my emotions get in the way

I let the data guide me, it's a brighter day

Chorus:

I turned off the news, I found a better way

Systematic trading is here to stay

I let the numbers do the talking, I don't need the hype

I'm making money now, it's a beautiful sight

Verse 3:

I used to be a victim, of the market's wild ride

But now I'm in control, I don't let it decide

I don't need the drama, I don't need the fuss

I just stick to my system, it's simple and just

Chorus:

I turned off the news, I found a better way

Systematic trading is here to stay

I let the numbers do the talking, I don't need the hype

I'm making money now, it's a beautiful sight

Man, that's pretty damn good -- and FAST!

Perhaps technological unemployment will be very quick when it hits.

If you're retired or have a highly repetitive job, you might want to avoid two things: Fentanyl and experimental medicines.

Trade smart,

Dan "Prince of Proof" Murphy

P.S. Can you sing and play the guitar? I'd love to hear you turn the ChatGPT lyrics into a song. Send a link my away.

Portfolio Boss, Inc.

260 Newport Center Dr, Suite 100 Newport Beach, CA 92660

About us: Created by our founder, Dan Murphy, Portfolio Boss 1.0 was released in 2014 as an alternative to mainstream back testing software. Although it was slow and clunky at first, it quickly grew because it offered scientific testing on large baskets of stocks and ETFs, including a ranking engine, and used a simple drag and drop strategy builder. No programming required. Also helping matters was the release of the popular report, The Relaxed Investor, with over 500,000 downloads and counting. Inside its pages laid the foundation for rotational investing, proven since 1926. Portfolio Boss quickly morphed into a multi-strategy trading machine with completely new concepts such as strategy stacking, spigoting, and meta-strategic trading. After years of development, Portfolio Boss morphed once again into the first automated A.I strategy builder with massive parallel cloud computing available to the public. With over 3,500 computer cores, "The Boss" was born. Not only can it invent trading strategies using human-made indicators, it also programs itself using C code. Currently, The Boss has been running for over 1900 years of compute time. Starting in 2022, The Boss was updated to include uncommon data such as fund flows and True Asset Pricing to improve strategies by a factor of 18x to 36x over indexing. What's next? Intraday trading and automation for starters. Our goal is to provide hedge fund level A.I tools for everyday kitchen counter traders.

Don't want to stay in the loop with Dan? We'll be sad to see you go, but you can unsub to no longer receive emails.
