Today, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released a State Health Official (SHO) letter, slide deck, and posted an updated Medicaid State Plan Amendment (SPA) template in the MACPro system to provide states policy and operational guidance to implement changes enacted in the Substance Use-Disorder Prevention that Promotes Opioid Recovery and Treatment for Patients and Communities (SUPPORT) Act for Medicaid eligibility of former foster care youth. The SHO and slide deck also include considerations for implementation and workaround strategies to support state compliance efforts. These requirements take effect on January 1, 2023.

CMS has also released a revised Medicaid State Plan Amendment template for the former foster care children eligibility group in the MACPro System.
