| NASA's launch of the Artemis 1 mission signals America's intent to return to the moon, and beyond. This CBS Reports documentary reveals the incredible endeavor of America's next great leap in space exploration and the collective will required to see it through. On Aug 29, 2022 Artemis 1, the most powerful rocket NASA has ever built, is scheduled to launch, ushering in a new chapter in deep space exploration. The goal is to use this and subsequent missions to establish a sustainable research presence on the Moon, which will help develop the technology and capabilities needed to go to the next frontier: Mars. And for the crew of the astronauts training for this mission, NASA has committed to putting the first woman and the first person of color on the moon.
