When did you first hear about days to cover?
Was it when the GameStop (NYSE: GME) short squeeze first erupted? A lot of people were talking about it then…
GME went up hundreds of dollars in minutes. And days to cover was used to show how bad the short position really was.
At the start of the squeeze, the days-to-cover ratio stood at 2.5.
That means it would have taken 2.5 days for all shorts in the stock to cover their trades at normal volume.
We all saw what happened. Many committed shorts were trapped when GME went parabolic…
Then some used GME's days-to-cover number to show how stubborn shorts actually were.
I'm not here to rag on shorts, though.
