Hi Eater readers, Eater is on the lookout for the members of its inaugural New Guard class. Longtime Eater readers may be familiar with Eater Young Guns. Since 2012, we've singled out rising stars in the culinary industry, celebrating the (mostly) young people primed to become the next generation of hospitality leaders. In 2021, we'll continue to highlight figures who represent the future of food, but as the restaurant industry faces a moment unlike anything that's come before, this effort will be different. We want to hear from you: Who are the most inspiring young chefs, restaurateurs, sommeliers, managers, and hospitality professionals in the country? | | | The Eater Young Guns class of 2019 at the Eater Young Guns Summit | Photo by Alyssa Ringler | | Eater's New Guard will be made up of the most talented changemakers in restaurants, people using food to challenge conventions, remake old systems, and better their communities. Standout chefs, bakers, sommeliers, and other hospitality professionals are still welcome to apply, but so are community organizers, nonprofit workers, artists, provocateurs, farmers, and those advocating for a more sustainable food supply. We're looking for the under-the-radar builders, doers, and activists who will effect positive change in food — and by extension, in the world — for years to come. Does this sound like someone you know? Nominate them! Fill out the form below by January 17, 2021. (Nominees must be based in the U.S. and have less than five years' experience or be under 30 years old.) Eater Young Guns have built workplaces around community, centered queer Black and brown people, and prioritized sustainable sourcing. We're so excited to find out what the New Guard will do. | | | |
