In their impeachment complaint, 74 members of progressive groups are accusing VP Sara Duterte of treachery through betrayal of public trust by allegedly misusing and abusing confidential funds amounting to P612.5 million.

The PH Coast Guard has recorded new acts of aggression by China in the West Philippine Sea—first, a Chinese Coast Guard vessel blasting a PH civilian boat with water cannon, and two other Chinese ships harassing two PCG vessels.

A US court says PH defendants in the case filed by the Bangladesh central bank over the 2016 cyber heist must answer the complaints—or face default judgment that would compel them to pay the full amount of damages sought by Bangladesh.

The presence of a Russian attack submarine in the WPS last week did not violate any international law or PH's exclusive economic zone, according to the Russian embassy, following reports of the sub being sighted near Occidental Mindoro.

Now the blowback: South Korea's opposition parties are moving to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol after his short-lived martial law declaration that shocked the country, while presidential advisers and secretaries for Yoon have offered to resign.

Senators on trial in VP's impeachment

The senator-judges in the impeachment trial must be made aware that, while they will sit in judgment in the trial of Sara Duterte, they themselves will be on trial and the verdict for or against them will be delivered in the May 2025 elections. In other words, the impeachment trial will be a double trial—one against the Vice President, and another against the senators.
