Today, Eater dropped its annual Where to Eat list, revealing the upcoming year's hottest destinations for those who travel to eat. The 2023 iteration highlights Eater's signature essential restaurants maps in 11 cities on five continents. Especially exciting this year are additional stories from experts and locals, which give a deeper glimpse into each city's food culture beyond the best restaurants, from the many pastas you'll want to eat in Sardinia to the crucial words of te reo Māori you'll need to dine in Tāmaki Makaurau (aka Auckland).
Overall, after a wave of pent-up wanderlust crashed over hot destinations in 2022, Where to Eat in 2023 is a chance to reset for a more relaxed pace of exploration. We're looking forward to leisurely strolling through Guatemala City sampling chow mein tostadas, perusing the fresh seafood roasting on grills along beaches in Dakar, and going on a dessert crawl through the sweetshops of Kolkata.
Punch's Where to Drink in 2023
While Eater was busy putting together our top spots to eat, our sister site Punch curated a list of the world's best places to drink right now, from late-night Old Fashioneds in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to ice cream cocktails at supper clubs in Madison, Wisconsin.
See everywhere we're excited to eat on the full Where to Eat list.
