Langevin, M.D.  June 24, 2022 The NCCIH team recently had the opportunity to attend the International Congress on Integrative Medicine and Health. It was a welcome chance to catch up with many old colleagues and make new connections.     Updates on NCCIH's Interest in Emotional Well-Being Research Emmeline Edwards, Ph.D. June 21, 2022   Emotional well-being is strongly linked with many aspects of health across the lifespan. For example, high levels of emotional well-being are associated with a 20 percent decrease in the risk of death from all causes among healthy people, a 70 percent decrease in the likelihood of starting smoking among high school girls, and a 36 percent decrease in the likelihood of developing mobility problems among older adults.    BRAIN Initiative Research Presented at International Congress on Integrative Medicine and Health Erin Burke Quinlan, Ph.D. June 17, 2022   I was pleased to organize a panel presentation on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Brain Research Through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies® (BRAIN) Initiative at the International Congress on Integrative Medicine and Health (ICIMH) in May.  To kick off the session, I gave an overview of the BRAIN Initiative, a partnership between five Federal agencies including NIH that's revolutionizing our understanding of the human brain.
