BREAKING NEWS BRIEF
Image Source: Livonia Police Department A simple fast-food order turned into a violent ordeal in Michigan when a 24-year-old Burger King employee threatened drive-thru customers, authorities say. Dustin Rocheleau argued with three customers about how they would pay for their food before he wielded a gun, according to officials.
He now faces a slew of felony charges.
The incident occurred on April 28, but officials just released the surveillance video this weekend. In that footage, the suspect appears to give out change before he points a gun at the trio inside the car. The patrons called the police after fleeing the area.
"You guys got yourself a nice bust today, I'll tell you that," Rocheleau said as he was handcuffed near the restaurant. "You guys are about to have a field day with this one…"
This latest incident offers just one more example of how Americans are becoming more and more violent as of late.

BUSINESS AND MARKETS
Amazon has revealed for the first time the number of people it employs in the U.S., putting the figure just shy of one million.
While the headcount was boosted by an additional 64,000 people hired in the second quarter, it does not include the thousands of contractors such as drivers whom Amazon depends on to run its Amazon Prime delivery operations.
Amazon has paid a $15 an hour minimum wage for all its employees since 2018, more than double the federal minimum wage, which is currently $7.25 an hour.
TIRED OF OFFICE POLITICS?
Image Source: Teri Weaver US officials are bracing for a mass exodus of election workers, after thousands have threatened to quit their posts before the next election.
After the contentious 2020 Presidential election, thousands of poll workers have complained about backlash from the public. Nearly 1 in 6 election workers reported that they received threats of violence during the 2020 election, while almost 1 in 3 said they did not feel safe on the job.
Some election workers reported their homes were broken into, their personal information was stolen and shared, or they had to deal with armed and dangerous crowds when leaving polling sites during the election. Many election workers say the crimes committed against them and the threats of violence continue to persist.
What did election officials have to say about the shocking claims made by workers? And Will the situation really lead to unprecedented turnover prior to the midterm elections next year?
AROUND THE GLOBE
The last European dictatorship, Belarus, made international headlines a few months ago when its government forced a Ryanair plane to land so that an opposition activist could be detained. After his and his girlfriend's arrest, videos of their alleged "confessions" were issued by the Belarus government. Many said that the confessions were forced as the journalist looked as though he'd been beaten.
Now, Belarus continues to upset the world with yet another human rights violation: Belarusian Olympian Krystsina Tsimanouskaya says she fears for her safety after criticizing her team's management. The runner was then apparently hustled to the airport but refused to board a flight for Istanbul and instead approached police for help.
WEATHER UPDATE
Image Source: CNN Showers and storms will build throughout the week along the Gulf and East coasts as a cold front stall in the Southeast. Following a week of triple-digit heat index values, a cold front sagging into the region will provide cooling rainfall to the coastal Southeast but might put a damper on beach days for some.
