Commencements and completions both decreased significantly in this quarter. In particular, trade commencements decreased by 28.2% and non-trade completions decreased by 20.4% when compared with the same quarter in 2019.

The total number of apprentices and trainees in-training at 30 September 2020 was down 4.2% from 30 September 2019, with a 9.2% decrease for non-trade occupations and a 1.7% decrease for trades.

Tertiary education and training theses

A new initiative introduced by the Journal of vocational education and training (JVET) is to publish abstracts from vocational education theses in its December issue each year. The initiative supports early career VET researchers. More information about the initiative is available on the JVET website.

The December 2020 issue of the journal contains 31 abstracts, summarising doctoral graduates’ theses from 2018-19 from seven countries. Available English language theses will be added to the VOCEDplus Thesis collection.

The VOCEDplus collection features over 1100 theses covering VET, higher education, and adult and community education.

If you are interested in sharing your research with an international audience, you can submit your thesis to VOCEDplus. More information about the scope of VOCEDplus and selection criteria is available on the About VOCEDplus page.
