Dear BoF Community,
The ability to turn used clothing into new material has long been fashion's version of alchemy, the fruitless effort by medieval chemists to turn lead into gold. But that may be starting to change, as H&M, Kering, PVH and others test new recycling methods they hope can be replicated on an industrial scale. Success would go a long way toward eliminating the roughly 40 million tons of textile waste sent to landfills and incinerators each year. Sarah Kent has the details.
Ever wonder what it takes to build a brand that lasts? Make sure to read Lauren Sherman's case study on Urban Outfitters, which has managed to escape the downtrodden fate of many of its competitors by always putting the customer first.
