NIMHD Supports Research on HIV Prevention Among Health Disparity Groups

The objective of the Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America initiative is to reduce new HIV infections in the United States by 75% by 2025 and 90% by 2030. This will be accomplished by implementing proven strategies to prevent new HIV infections—including use of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) by high-risk HIV-negative individuals and achieving an undetectable viral load through antiretroviral therapy (ART) among individuals living with HIV—in geographic hotspots with disproportionate numbers of new HIV infections.

Two new funding opportunities support research to understand how best to reduce new HIV infections among high-risk U.S. populations with health disparities through interventions to promote PrEP, condom use, and HIV testing, and to promote ART initiation and adherence and suppressed viral load for people living with HIV (PLWH).

NIMHD invites investigators to participate in these important public health activities and welcomes inquiries concerning these funding opportunities. Review the funding opportunity announcements (FOAs) for more information on eligibility and application submissions.

Open Date (Earliest Submission Date): December 15, 2020

Application Due Date: January 15, 2021, by 5:00 p.m. local time of applicant organization
