BSP finishes 2024 with 3rd rate cut

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) on Thursday capped 2024 with a third consecutive reduction to the policy interest rate, with Governor Eli Remolona Jr. keeping his intention to take "baby steps" when it comes to easing amid persistent price pressures.

Balance of payments deficit grew to widest in over 2 years


The Philippines posted its largest dollar deficit in over two years in November, with the outflows stemming from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas' (BSP) moves to shore up a weak peso and repayment of external debt of the government. The BoP summarizes an economy's transactions with the rest of the world during a certain period.
