"The ability to profit off upside and downside moves is what separates amateur traders from the pros." Bryan Bottarelli, Head Trade Tactician, Monument Traders Alliance One of the reasons I love overnight trading is because of its potential for winners no matter which direction a stock goes. Yesterday was the perfect of example of how that can play out for double winners. Here's how I set it up… Yesterday, I issued two trade alerts ahead of earnings with that exact strategy in mind. My first trade alert was on Archer-Daniels-Midland (ADM). The second was for Palantir Technologies (PLTR). Here was my strategy behind both plays. ADM was due to report earnings yesterday morning, so I placed an overnight strangle to take advantage of a big move in either direction. And the following morning – we got that big move. As you'll see in the chart above, ADM actually saw a massive drop to the downside just before earnings. And because of the way I structured the trade, I still closed it for a monster 153.27% overnight winner. Several Open House participants were in this trade. Like one member, DavyV, who made a 290% gain overnight! That's incredible. But that's not all. These trades also take advantage of upside moves as well. Like this second trade alert I issued yesterday in The War Room. This trade was on PLTR, a trade I closed for a 105.24% overnight winner. But unlike ADM, I actually took advantage of a strong upside move on PLTR. The PLTR trade setup I issued came ahead of earnings as well. But unlike ADM, this was more of a light, super speculative call play. This is another example of the variety of plays we do in The War Room. We have trades for every risk tolerance level – and this PLTR trade was for traders with a little higher risk tolerance. Of course, I also strongly recommend position sizing on these types of trades. As you'll see in the chart below, PLTR made a big move ahead of earnings and several Open House participants closed the trade for a big winner. You see… this is what separates amateur traders from the pros… the ability to take winners on both upside moving stocks (like PLTR) and downside moving stocks (like ADM). |
