| President-elect Donald Trump has tapped Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer (R-Ore.) to serve as Labor Secretary, a move that could bolster his credentials among organized labor after he made inroads with working-class voters in his victory over Vice President Kamala Harris. Chavez-DeRemer, 56, is also the second Hispanic person that Trump has designated for his Cabinet, joining Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.). The former president drew strong support from Latino voters in this year's election, cutting into Democrat's historic advantage. The intended nomination cuts against expectations that Trump would pick a Labor secretary who would take a hard line against unions and tilt the playing field back toward business, though he has other levers to pull on that front.
