A program in Texas helped minority and medically underserved cancer survivors get much more physical activity, according to a new study. People who took part in the study also reported improved physical functioning and quality of life.
Lorlatinib (Lorbrena) is better than crizotinib (Xalkori) as a first treatment for people with ALK-positive advanced non-small cell lung cancer, according to new clinical trial results. Treatment with lorlatinib also seemed to help prevent these cancers from spreading to the brain.
For people with locally advanced esophageal cancer, a chemotherapy regimen called FLOT is the preferred treatment, according to results from a large clinical trial. People treated with FLOT lived much longer than those treated with another regimen.
Early findings from a small clinical trial show that a new cellular immunotherapy approach using genetically engineered white blood cells may be effective in treating metastatic solid tumors.
The Food and Drug Administration has approved the targeted therapy imetelstat (Rytelo) to treat certain types of myelodysplastic syndrome. It is used in adults with anemia who need blood transfusions and have not responded to other treatments.
