Former President Barack Obama is endorsing an open Democratic primary process at the convention next month — less than an hour after former President Bill Clinton endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president. "I have extraordinary confidence that the leaders of our party will be able to create a process from which an outstanding nominee emerges," Obama said in a statement, which did not mention Harris. Earlier Sunday, a joint statement from Clinton and 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton said the two were backing Harris: "Now is the time to support Kamala Harris and fight with everything we've got to elect her."
