Credit: NIAID NIAID scientists discovered a new, potent antibody that can neutralize a broad range of influenza type A viruses. The antibody, L5A7, was isolated using a special type of antibody called "anti-idiotypic," which recognizes desired features on other antibodies. The researchers say the newly discovered antibody could be used to develop improved diagnostics and therapeutics for a broad range of flu viruses.
