Some candidates in last year's presidential and vice presidential elections spent between P600 million and P1.5 billion at least on social media "political influencers" who conducted covert campaign operations, according to a recently published research.

The Department of Agriculture said losses due to Typhoon "Egay" (international name: Doksuri) has surged to P2.89 billion, affecting some 142,000 farmers and fishers in nine regions. Egay left the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) late last week but was followed by another storm, "Falcon" (international name: Khanun), which developed into typhoon on its way out of PAR.

2 dead as plane crashes in Apayao


TUGUEGARAO CITY—The wreckage of a training plane that crashed in Apayao province on Tuesday was found on Wednesday afternoon, but rescue teams reported that its two pilots did not survive. The debris of Echo Air Cessna 152 and the bodies of Capt. Edzel John Lumbao Tabuzo and student pilot Anshum Rajkumar Konde, an Indian national, were located in the boundaries of Luna and Pudtol towns.
