Former President Donald Trump is expected to surrender to authorities in New York on Tuesday and appear in court for the first time to face criminal charges, a historic first that has prompted strict security measures and planned protests by his supporters. The charges were handed down in an indictment by a grand jury conducting an investigation related to a payment made on Trump's behalf to an adult film star in 2016 in exchange for her silence about an alleged affair, which Trump has denied. The specific charges remain under seal. A judge ruled overnight that no video would be allowed in the courtroom. Trump is expected to turn himself in to the police for processing at the Manhattan Criminal Courthouse, where he will be booked and taken into custody. He will then appear in front of a judge at an arraignment hearing. (read more) | |

A video featuring President Joe Biden has recently gone viral again in light of the impending indictment of President Trump. They are "making sure... that he does not become President," Biden says quietly in the video, which was recorded in November after the midterm elections. The impact of taxes is one frequently overlooked element of retirement planning. Without careful preparation, taxes can significantly reduce your retirement savings. For instance, a $1 million traditional IRA or 401(k) plan portfolio may only be valued at $800,000 or less after taxes. Your investments' income may also be taxed if they are in a normal, taxable brokerage account. To get around this issue, you could increase your savings and investment during your working years to have additional cash on hand to pay your taxes. Another is to choose investments and account strategies that will minimize your tax obligation by being tax-smart. Several types of retirement income are not subject to taxation, although a surprising number of items are taxed in retirement. (read more) |

Mark Mongiardo was often confronted at work by managers and coworkers saying he reeked of alcohol and his behavior seemed off.
