Republican lawmakers in Tennessee voted on Thursday to expel two Democratic legislators who joined a protest on the House floor last week after a deadly school shooting in Nashville. On March 30, protesters gathered at the State Capitol, and Democratic Reps. Justin Jones, Gloria Johnson, and Justin Pearson led a chant of "power to the people" from the House floor. On Thursday, lawmakers first voted 72-25 to expel Jones, 27, one of the youngest legislature members. The resolution to expel Johnson failed by one vote, 65 to 30. But Pearson, 28, was also expelled in a 69-26 vote. The GOP supermajority had accused the representatives of breaking house rules on conduct and decorum. The forced expulsion of lawmakers from any state legislative body in the U.S. is extremely rare. (read more) |

A new poll conducted between March 25 and April 4 found that, among Iowa Republicans, President Trump leads Ron DeSantis by nearly double digits, with 15% still undecided. While 55% of those who support DeSantis said the same thing, 62% of those who support Trump said they would "definitely participate" in the upcoming Iowa Presidential Caucus. The poll was the first in Iowa after Trump's indictment. Among all Republican voters, Nikki Haley and Kari Lake tied for second place as their choice for Vice President, but among Trump supporters, Lake had a 22-point lead over Haley. A Michigan man impersonating a cop was busted because he decided to pull the wrong person over. Christian Katan Mansoor, 18, was driving a silver BMW through Waterford Township with blue and red lights flashing to indicate he was a police officer. Mansoor was said to be darting in and out of traffic while the lights were activated. He then decided to try to conduct a fake traffic stop and pull someone over. Mansoor initially passed a woman driver, but then fell behind her and activated his lights to try to pull her over. Little did he know, he decided to pull the wrong person to conduct his fake traffic stop. When Mansoor approached the vehicle, he was floored by who was inside. (read more) |

Twenty-six-year-old Madeline Jane Kingsbury of Minnesota has been missing for almost a week, and police say the circumstances and details surrounding her disappearance are "suspicious." Kingsbury was last seen on March 31 after dropping her 5 and 2-year old children off at daycare with her husband around 8 a.m. Now detectives have launched an intensive search for the missing woman and they are concerned for her safety. Her family, who have called and sent numerous texts that went unanswered, say this is "extremely out of character for her."
